Hello Gary! Thank you for your comments over at my place and taking the time to read so much! Love this one… I almost had a fool hen for Thanksgiving dinner – it tried to land on the grill of my truck as I was doing 50 mph. LOL! This reminded me of that… Enjoying reading about sleeping with eyes open and concerns about the need for finding balance in environment and economics. My current mantra is “Occupy the Woods!” I’ve never been to Idaho looks and sounds wonderful. Thank you for this! ~Starbear

Starbear,
I finally found your comment. Thanks. I like your mantra “Occupy the Woods”. Along those lines, we do a trip each season with Idaho Fish and Game called River Ecology. It is a part of their Project Wild, which is geared towards helping teachers learn more about conservation for their own classes. I imagine you have heard of Nature Deficit Disorder, as unfortunately many kids these days have (many adults too, for that matter). Too many gadgets and high tech stuff, and not enough time in the woods. Since these kids are our next environmental stewards, they need more time in nature, not fake virtual nature, to develpe compassion through actual “feel” for such.
Yes, Idaho is a great place. Our backyard is the Salmon River (River of No Return” fame) and the frontyard is the Seven Devils Mountains. Our town is at 1800 feet elevation, and the mountains are almost 10000 feet. So we live in a canyon that is over a mile deep. We love it. Thanks again for your comments.
